About us

Şimşek, Miribung and Nordmann are the three voices of TRËİ; the trio sings and performs in theatre productions, concert projects, interdisciplinary collaborations - and develops staged music programs that revolve around the question of what it means to be human. In their perception of themselves as citizens of the world, the three women interweave their different backgrounds and cultures: baroque and folkloric repertoire, music from the East and West including their own compositions.

In their program VOCAL ISLES, the three singers turn towards their own roots. The project combines Sephardic melodies, Rhaeto-Roman songs and Gaelic music and is an homage of the musicians to their origins and to the cultural diversity of Europe.

TRËİ's project ONE'S FOR SORROW, TWO'S FOR JOY honors wailing women, midwives and other female figures who, for centuries, have accompanied birth and death in song.

TRËİ is based in Basel; the trio's name comes from Ladin, a Rhaeto-Romanic language from the Italian Alps
